resource unavailable: d2i_PrivateKey_bio() failed

Dear all,

I have been happily using opendkim for at least two years but we
recently had to restart the server and refresh a couple of ports
(FreeBSD). As a result the opendkim port got upgraded and stopped
working. It appears I am now using opendkim-2.4.3 and after two years I
can barely remember the configuration details :)

I created a new config file - opendkim.conf - in /usr/local/etc/mail. I
mirrored the settings I had in an earlier file - dkim-filter.conf.
After creating the config file, I started the milter and I can see it
is running.

$ ps -f -A |grep dkim
50106 ?? Is 0:00.00 /usr/local/sbin/opendkim -l -u mailnull -P
/var/run/milteropendkim/pid -x /usr/local/etc/mail/opendkim.conf
50107 ?? I 0:00.01 /usr/local/sbin/opendkim -l -u mailnull -P
/var/run/milteropendkim/pid -x /usr/local/etc/mail/opendkim.conf

So the next thing was to start postfix and here's where things go
wrong. Postfix does start but sending mails is not possible:
opendkim[50107]: B702B1A98E6: dkim_eom(): resource unavailable:
d2i_PrivateKey_bio() failed
