I also found this in Steves buildlog:

  checking strl.h usability... no
  checking strl.h presence... no
  checking for strl.h... no
  checking for strl.h in /usr/local/include/strl... checking for
strl.h in /usr/include/strl... no

the missing libstrl was detected but that's not fatal for configure ...
