You need to initialize it first using "opendkim-stats -i" before opendkim
starts writing to the database.

Mea culpa; I failed to note this anywhere in the documentation other than
the opendkim-stats man page. It's now in stats/README for the next beta
drop.

Sorry for the confusion.
