opendkim-stats.db: version check failed

I'm trying statistics for the first time and getting
"/var/lib/opendkim/opendkim-stats.db: version check failed" on each
message processed. stats.c appears to be looking for a version in the
statistics file record if I understand it correctly. But I'm not sure
what to do next.

It looks like the database was created:
#ls -l /var/lib/opendkim/opendkim-stats.db
-rw-r----- 1 root root 12288 2010-05-27 21:36
/var/lib/opendkim/opendkim-stats.db

Using: opendkim-2.1.0.Beta2
        Slackware Linux
        Berkley 4.4.20

Built with:
./configure \
    --with-milter \
    --with-openssl \
    --with-unbound \
    --enable-debug \
    --enable-stats
