Assuming you're sending it SIGINT, SIGTERM or SIGHUP when shutting down,
it can take a few seconds for libmilter to check for and handle the
signal, but that should be it in terms of delays. If it seems stuck
beyond that, some debugging information like a full set of thread stack
traces would be useful.

This is the first such report I've heard.
