It wasn't certain from your description that you were using the very same
files as in the working case, so it was worth asking.

The absence of any error in the log is peculiar. The two functions that
parse and apply the key table and signing table log error details in all
except two conditions: memory allocation failures and DB query errors. If
you're getting responses from MySQL, then the only obvious possibilities
involve inability to read the key file itself, which you say isn't
possible.

I'd need to see a reproduction of the problem to be able to diagnose this
further. Or if you're familiar with gdb and have a debug build, walking
through dkimf_add_signrequest() would reveal the nature of the problem.
