Thanks Andreas but I still think that would be a bit too difficult for me at this point.
I emailed the maintainer of the Debian package (Mike Markley) and got a reply that he would make a new package so I guess I will have to wait for that and meanwhile add combinations of upper/lower case domains in signingtable as a workaround.

I do packaging for debian but with a very private scope.
So my packages are mostly not usable for public.
But if you are interested, I could send you my package as a startingpoint ...
