Absence of the domain in the DNS. See Section 4.3 of RFC5617 (ADSP) for details.
Our particular test is to ask for A, AAAA and MX records, and if any of them comes back with no error and at least one answer, we assume the domain exists; otherwise, ADSPNoSuchDomain fires. This is consistent with the last paragraph of that section. Admittedly, that's a more strict check than is actually demanded by that section.
