Hi, Jason. I'm not sending out multiple mails, but I just tested the timing
on a single mail right now and got this:

Dec 6 09:22:25 carbonfiber postfix/smtpd[10512]: connect from
blah.hostname.comcast.net[xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx]

Dec 6 09:22:25 carbonfiber postfix/smtpd[10512]: 2E3F610423A7: client=
blah.hostname.comcast.net[xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx]], sasl_method=LOGIN,
sasl_username=username

Dec 6 09:22:25 carbonfiber postfix/cleanup[10703]: 2E3F610423A7:
message-id=<003a01cb956a$8c342250$a49c66f0$_at_com>

Dec 6 09:22:25 carbonfiber opendkim[29841]: 2E3F610423A7: DKIM-Signature

Dec 6 09:22:25 carbonfiber postfix/qmgr[4898]: 2E3F610423A7:
from=<me_at_mydomain.com>, size=5649, nrcpt=1 (queue active)

Dec 6 09:22:27 carbonfiber postfix/smtp[10704]: 2E3F610423A7:
to=<address_at_gmail.com>, relay=gmail-smtp-in.l.google.com[72.14.213.27]:25,
delay=2.4, delays=0.16/0/0.28/1.9, dsn=2.0.0, status=sent (250 2.0.0 OK
1291656318 m48si6786203yha.129)

Dec 6 09:22:27 carbonfiber postfix/qmgr[4898]: 2E3F610423A7: removed

The connection and signing took less than 1 second, and then the relaying
and removal took another 1+. Whole thing was over in 2 seconds.

Anything else running on this box? What's your load avg?

Subject: Delayed email because of signing

Hello again all, just curious if anyone has seen any issues with the time it
takes for an email to be signed. After I setup my opendkim with a compiled
sendmail i went from being able to send out 1-2 emails a second to about 1
email every 5 seconds? Strange that there would be such a big delay but I
guess it makes sense since it has to actually modify the message but why so
long? Anyone know of anyway to speed it up, even a few seconds would help!

My sendmail version is 8.14.4
Opendkim version is 2.2.1

here are my opendkim.conf settings:

Canonicalization relaxed/simple
Diagnostics no
Domain marlborosurvey.net
InternalHosts /etc/mail/dkim/trusted-hosts
KeepTemporaryFiles no
KeyFile /var/db/dkim/mail.key.pem
LogWhy no
Selector mail
Socket inet:8891_at_localhost
SubDomains yes
Syslog no
TemporaryDirectory /var/tmp
UserID dkim

Please let me know if you need any other information, thanks!

Jason
