Both
ikey i-systems.co.uk:default:/usr/local/etc/dkim/i-systems.co.uk/default.private

and

ikey default:i-systems.co.uk:/usr/local/etc/dkim/i-systems.co.uk/default.private

Work. Opendkim doesn't seem to care which format?

The key element in your reply is /default.private on the end of the keytable entry.

I read the INSTALL file as a keytable entry required the location of the directory that the signing key resides in and not the file name itself?

So that

ikey default:i-systems.co.uk:/usr/local/etc/dkim/i-systems.co.uk
ikey2 shazbat:i-systems.co.uk:/usr/local/etc/dkim/i-systems.co.uk
ikey3 foo:i-systems.co.uk:/usr/local/etc/dkim/i-systems.co.uk

Would locate default.private, shazbat.private and foo.private respectively in the /usr/local/etc/dkim/i-systems.co.uk directory.

Might i suggest that the INSTALL file be amended so as to highlight that it's the file name required?
And that permissions on the file be at least 444.

The responder at dk.elandsys.com now returns:

DKIM Signature validation: neutral
DKIM Author Domain Signing Practices: no DNS record for _adsp._domainkey.i-systems.co.uk

Nearly there :)
