The source code for dkim-milter is owned and maintained by Sendmail, Inc. The lead developer for that project left the company at the end of May this year, losing access to continue support and development via their internal source code repository. In order to continue development, the code fork was necessary.

The source code for OpenDKIM is maintained via a public repository at SourceForge and is not associated with any specific company.
