Can we see the output of:

ls -ld / /etc /etc/opendkim /etc/opendkim/keys /etc/opendkim/keys/default.private

?

The new code attempts to determine whether the key file could be
overwritten by anyone on the system. If the key file or any directory
above it is writeable by someone other than root or the user running
opendkim, you get this error.
